Beth’s Picks – Savannah Stopover 2015

Beth’s Picks – Savannah Stopover 2015

It’s that time of year again!  Next week, some of the hottest bands will stopover in Savannah, GA on their way to the legendary SxSW Music Festival in Austin, TX.   Brainchild of Kayne LanahanSavannah Stopover Music Festival is now in its fifth year and takes place at venues throughout Savannah’s Historic District next Thursday – Saturday (March 5 – 7th).  If you haven’t already, you can still get tickets HERE.

Clara and Beth have been involved as sponsors and supporters since the Festival’s inception.  This year, Vantosh Realty Group is part of the Corporate Founders’ Circle with some other great local businesses including Dollhouse Productions, Collective Marketing, GreenTruck Pub, Service Brewing, Dept. 7 East, and the Gaslight Group.

You can listen to all the bands HERE and view the schedule HERE and right here are Beth’s Top Picks…

1) Southern Culture On The Skids (SCOTS), March 5, 8PM, Charles Morris Center
I have loved this band for years and seen them several times in Atlanta.  They always put on a good show and make you want to dance your ass off.

2) Pitch Black Brass Band, March 6, Midnight, The Jinx
Who doesn’t love a good brass band!?!!

3) Band Poster Exhibition, March 6, 6PM, Jepson Center
No, that is not a band name, but an actual exhibition of band posters created by local artists.

4) Generationals and Dumpstafunk, March 6, Midnight and 12:30AM, Club One and Wild Wings
Both bands from one of my favorite music towns, New Orleans, playing pretty much at the same time. I hope I am able to catch both some how.  Wish I had the powers of Burt Campbell from the old TV show Soap and could magically be in two places at once.

5 Amythyst Kiah, March 7, 5PM, Congress Street Social Club
A perfect way to get ready for the last night.  Her rendition of Jolene is magical!

6) Tall Tall Trees, March 7, 6PM, Trinity United Church
Saw them at the Creator’s Foundry a few months back and was blown away.

7) Fat Tony, March 7, 10PM, The Jinx
He just seems like he knows how to put on a show.

8) Cusses, March 7, 11PM, The Jinx
No better way to end the festival than with a high energy performance from local faves, Cusses.
